Rain check, anyone?

After a surprise sprinkle (told you!), Cyprus gears up for a toasty weekend with clouds still flirting with the idea of a second act.

Newsroom

Well, well, well… would you look at that? It rained yesterday. Told you so! Okay, it wasn’t a monsoon, but a few lovely showers did make an appearance, and honestly, that’s a win in mid-July. So, let’s see what the skies have in store as we roll into the weekend.

Friday forecast:

Today, clouds are back doing their usual slow dance over Cyprus, especially around midday and early afternoon, when they might surprise us again with a light sprinkle or even an isolated storm, mostly up in the mountains. So if you're hiking, maybe pack a raincoat instead of just vibes.

Winds are feeling a little feisty, blowing southwest to northwest at 3–4 Beaufort, but along windier coastal spots they could ramp up to 4–5 Beaufort. Hold onto your beach umbrellas. The sea? Slightly rough. Enough to make your lilo feel like it’s going on a mini-adventure.

Temperatures will peak at a toasty 36°C inland, 32°C on the coast, and a much more civilized 28°C in the mountains, which continues to be the MVP of summer escape plans.

Friday night:

The night cools off (a little), with low clouds creeping along for a late-night stroll, and a chance of mist or fog before sunrise. Winds chill down to a gentle 3 Beaufort, and the sea stays slightly restless. Temps will dip to 23°C inland and along the coast, and a refreshing 20°C up in the hills.

Weekend outlook:

Saturday and Sunday both come with a dose of déjà vu: mostly clear skies with a side of afternoon clouds, especially around the mountains. And yep, there’s still a slim chance of a random rain shower popping by to say hi. No need to cancel your beach day, but maybe don’t put your flip-flops on the fire just yet.

By Monday:

Get ready to crank the fans, temperatures will climb noticeably and settle above seasonal averages. In other words: hot, hotter, Cyprus in July.

Bottom line?

You might catch a splash, but summer isn’t giving up that easily. Stay cool, stay hopeful and yes, feel free to leave more “it’ll never rain” comments on Facebook. I’ll be waiting.
