Rain on the way with Victoria headed east

Streak of unseasonably warm weather in Cyprus to be disrupted as storm nears Athens

Cyprus may not be in the direct path of developing storm “Victoria” currently approaching Greece but officials say rain is expected to disrupt a streak of unseasonably warm weather on the island.

According to weather officials in Cyprus, a warm front continues to affect the area over the island with mostly clear skies, with some strong winds and moderate dust levels.

But reports suggest a low barometer associated with storm Victoria could affect Cyprus, as heavy rainfall and strong gale currently gathering in the Ionian Sea are said to be moving eastward towards Athens by midweek.

Strong winds Wednesday, rain chances Thursday

Unseasonably warm weather in Cyprus is also expected to be disrupted later this week, with strong winds expected Wednesday and increasing rain chances on Thursday, including local showers and isolated thunderstorms. A storm could also suddenly appear on Saturday.

Tuesday evening skies will be mostly clear with temperature lows registering at 15° degrees Celsius inland, around 19 in the south and in the east, and 14 in all other coastal regions as well as up in the mountains.

Wednesday highs are expected to reach 28 degrees inland and along the coast, while it will be 21 up in the mountains.

No direct links have been made between Victoria and conditions over Cyprus, as the two patterns are two different weather systems with minimal impact on each other.
