Drivers on Sunday evening were shocked when they saw a vehicle going the wrong way on the Limassol-Paphos highway.

According to local media, a 52-year-old Greek Cypriot man was arrested by police Sunday night after he was safely stopped while driving in the opposite direction on the Limassol-Paphos highway.

Reports said the vehicle was seen around 8:35pm moving eastbound on a westbound lane just before the Kouklia exit. Police officers blocked the man’s path and forced him to come to a complete stop before arresting him for reckless driving.

The suspect was also administered a Breathalyzer test that indicated 133mg, which is six times over the legal limit.

He was charged with drunk driving and driving without a licence while he is expected to be summoned to court at a later date.

No accidents or injured were reported in connection with the incident.
