Newsroom

Motorists in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Famagusta should prepare for a series of highway maintenance and construction works in the coming weeks, the Department of Public Works announced. The department apologized for any inconvenience caused and urged drivers to follow temporary traffic signs and police instructions.

Nicosia-Limassol Road:
Maintenance work on guardrails of a bridge between Kalavasos and Mari began on October 8 and will continue until November 7, excluding weekends and holidays. Work will take place daily from 08:00 to 16:00. During this period, one lane will be closed alternately over a 20-meter stretch, with traffic diverted via traffic light signaling.

Larnaca-Nicosia Highway:
Periodic road maintenance will occur from October 9 and 13 between 20:00 and 05:30 on sections heading towards Nicosia, from the Rizokarpaso roundabout to the exit for Athienou-Kosi. Both lanes in the Nicosia-bound direction will be partially closed over a 3-kilometer stretch, with traffic diverted to the opposite lane operating with two-way traffic.

Larnaca–Paralimni Highway:
Irrigation works on the central median by the Forest Department are scheduled from October 27 to 30, daily from 08:30 to 16:00, excluding holidays. The adjacent lane towards Ayia Napa will be partially closed in 1.5 km segments, with traffic diverted to the neighboring lane.

Anthoupolis-Nicosia Highway:
On October 9, between 21:00 and 05:30, noise barrier installation will take place at the A9 exit towards the Archangelos interchange. The exit towards Macedonitissa will remain closed. Drivers are advised to use the previous exit towards Alexandrou Panagouli and access Morfou Avenue via Stadiou Street.

Nicosia-Limassol Highway (A1):
On October 10, between 08:30 and 11:30, cable-pulling works in CYTA manholes near the Latsia exit will partially close the highway shoulder and the fast lane for short distances, with traffic redirected through middle and left lanes.

Nicosia Perimeter Highway (Phase B3):
Starting October 13, two northern lanes towards the Anthoupolis government housing estates, over a 350-meter stretch, will be closed for approximately six months. Traffic will be rerouted via Agiou Georgiou Avenue and Orthodoxias Street, with two-way traffic on the southern lanes for other routes.

The Department of Public Works emphasized that the works are essential for road safety and infrastructure improvement and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation.
