The echoes of children's voices return to the halls of primary education as the academic year commences, with approximately 9,323 first-year students.
According to the Ministry of Education's data, Primary Education is set to encompass 612 schools, comprising 329 Primary Schools, 274 Kindergartens, and 9 Special Schools. A total of 7,078 educators will guide these students, distributed as follows: 4,948 in primary schools, 973 in kindergartens, and 1,157 special teachers serving in primary schools, kindergartens, and special schools.
The student body will comprise 64,748 pupils, with 51,371 enrolled in primary schools, 12,853 in kindergartens, and 524 in special schools. Additionally, the Ministry of Education reports a notable increase in first-grade pupils this year, with 9,323 compared to last year's 9,068.
At 07:30, Minister of Education, Sports, and Youth, Athina Michaelidou, embarked on a visit to the 3rd Primary School of Aglantzia, marking the start of the new academic year in Primary Education.
