Two people injured in separate road collisions in Limassol have died in hospital, bringing the incidents to a tragic conclusion as police continue investigating the circumstances surrounding both crashes.
The first victim, 17-year-old Romanian national Mario Gabriel, died on Tuesday morning after receiving treatment at a private hospital in Limassol. He had been critically injured in a collision on August 2 involving the motorcycle he was riding and a car driven by a 37-year-old man. Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
In a separate case, 24-year-old Ibrahim Al Aawad, originally from Syria, also succumbed to injuries sustained in a collision on July 26.
According to police, the crash happened at about 10:45pm on Solon Street when the personal electric mobility device he was riding collided with a car. The driver of the vehicle left the scene following the collision and has not yet been identified.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to a private hospital, where he later died. His next of kin have been informed.
Police are asking anyone with information about the July 26 collision, or who may be able to help identify the vehicle and its driver, to contact Limassol Traffic Police, the nearest police station or the Citizen's Line on 1460.
Limassol Traffic Police are continuing their investigations into both fatal road collisions.
