Stormy conditions expected as weather service issues yellow alert
Unstable weather is set to affect Cyprus today, Sunday, as the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow-level weather warning for isolated thunderstorms.
The alert will be in effect from 11:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. and covers much of the island. Storm activity is expected to begin in western, northern, and southern areas before spreading to additional regions later in the day.
Forecasters warn that some storms could be particularly intense, with rainfall rates potentially exceeding 35 millimeters per hour in localized areas. There is also a possibility of hail during the strongest cells.
Authorities advise the public to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to flooding or sudden weather changes, as conditions may deteriorate rapidly during storm activity.
