Temperatures to drop below average

Newsroom

Today, Cyprus anticipates scattered showers along with varying temperatures across the island. The atmosphere will also experience sporadic dust concentrations.

Inland, as well as on the southern and eastern coasts, temperatures are forecasted to reach approximately 33 degrees Celsius, while the rest of the coast will see temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. The higher mountain regions are expected to have temperatures hovering around 25 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office's weather forecast suggests that isolated showers or thunderstorms could make an appearance over the weekend.

Expect mainly clear skies today; however, during midday and beyond, localized cloud cover may increase, leading to isolated, brief showers in the southeast region. The atmosphere will occasionally carry sparse dust. In the afternoon, partly cloudy conditions are anticipated, primarily with medium to high cloud cover.

Winds are set to be primarily from the southwest to northwest, initially light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, later picking up to a moderate to strong breeze at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea conditions are expected to become slightly rougher as well.

Inland, on the southern and eastern coasts, temperatures will soar to around 33 degrees Celsius, while the remaining coastal areas will experience temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. In the higher mountainous regions, temperatures will be milder at approximately 25 degrees Celsius.

As night falls, clouds will gradually increase, with localized light showers in the west and north regions. Winds will maintain their direction from the southwest to northwest, remaining light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with occasional areas experiencing a moderate 4 Beaufort. The sea conditions will continue to be a bit rough.

Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to approximately 20 degrees Celsius inland, around 22 degrees Celsius on the coast, and a cooler 14 degrees Celsius in the higher mountainous areas.

Looking ahead to Saturday, localized cloud cover is expected to intensify, potentially leading to isolated showers or thunderstorms, primarily in the western regions. Sunday and Monday may also bring localized showers and isolated thunderstorms. Furthermore, temperatures are predicted to gradually decrease through Monday, approaching and slightly dipping below the average climatic values for the season.
