Biography

Solon Kassinis was born on April 15, 1952, in Kato Zodeia, a village in Cyprus.  He studied marketing at the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom, business administration at Philips College in Nicosia, and chemical engineering at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.

He had two sons and a daughter with his wife, Kika Christoforou.

Political career

He served on the board of directors of the Cyprus Petroleum Storage Company from 2004 to 2014. (KETAP). He was Chairman of the Energy Foundation and Chairman of the Special Fund for Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Energy Saving from 2005 to 2010. (ES). He served as Executive Vice President of the Cyprus State Hydrocarbon Company from March to September 2013. (CRETYK). From April 2014 to January 2015, he served as energy advisor to former Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras (April 2014-January 2015).

In the 2016 parliamentary elections, he was elected for the first time as a Member of Parliament in the Nicosia Constituency with DISY for the first parliamentary term. He was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry, and Tourism as an MP. He resigned on November 29, 2019, due to health issues.
