Spate of overnight attacks in Limassol leaves two injured, delivery driver robbed

Police investigate three separate incidents within hours.

Limassol saw a troubling string of violent incidents overnight, with three separate attacks reported in less than four hours, leaving two men injured and a third, an on-duty delivery driver, robbed of his electric bike.

The first incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday (May 9), when a 34-year-old man was found unconscious and badly injured on a street in Limassol. He was rushed to Limassol General Hospital with head trauma. Thankfully, doctors say his condition is stable and not life-threatening. Police believe he was attacked by an unknown individual while walking alone.

Just 30 minutes later, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a second man, aged 37, was found lying injured in another area of the city. He had visible wounds to his arms and legs but was conscious when emergency services arrived. He, too, was taken to Limassol General for treatment. Authorities are still trying to determine what exactly happened.

These two back-to-back assaults come just hours after another violent encounter was reported Thursday night (May 8) in Kato Polemidia. A 24-year-old food delivery driver told police he was heading home on his electric bike around 10:15 p.m. when two individuals on foot stopped him and demanded money. When he refused, one of them assaulted him, and both fled the scene with his bike.

All three incidents are under active investigation, with Limassol’s police authorities appealing to the public for any information that might help identify the suspects.

The sudden spike in attacks has sparked concern among locals, particularly food delivery workers and residents who are often out late at night.
