A 36-year-old employee operating a mobile speed camera van was reportedly sprayed in the face and had his vehicle damaged during a late-night incident on the Paphos-Limassol highway, police said.

The incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. near the Kouklia exit. The worker was inside the van conducting a routine speed check when a car with three occupants pulled up nearby.

One of the passengers asked to speak with him, and when he slightly opened the driver’s side window, he was allegedly sprayed in the face. Meanwhile, the other two occupants reportedly struck the van, causing damage.

The employee immediately drove to the nearest police station to file a complaint. Authorities said the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department is handling the case, but no arrests have been made.

Police have not disclosed the type of substance used in the attack or the motive and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
