Spring took a dramatic turn in Nicosia on Thursday afternoon, as violent weather brought sudden and heavy hailstorms to several areas of the district. The storm hit just after noon, catching many off guard, with Dali and Pera Chorio Nisou among the hardest hit.
As shown in striking videos shared by “Kairophiles of Cyprus,” large hailstones came down in torrents, covering roads in a thick layer of ice and briefly turning parts of the landscape white. The intense burst of weather caused disruptions and sparked reactions across social media, as residents documented the rare sight.
