A man is in critical condition following a stabbing incident in Larnaca on Tuesday night, with reports saying he managed to walk to a coffee shop to ask for help.

Police say officers responded to an incident in Larnaca’s Finikoudes seafront Tuesday night, around 11:40pm, after a 39-year-old man who was bleeding walked into a local coffee shop.

The man was rushed to the Emergency Room at Larnaca General Hospital where doctors said he was bleeding from a deep stab wound in the abdomen. His condition was described as serious but out of immediate danger.

Reports said the man, described as a Sri Lankan national, was spending time at the town’s seafront with three other males from the same country.

According to an official report, witnesses at the coffee shop told police officers the injured man and the three others appeared to have had an argument, where a knife was drawn.

Police sources told Knews that individuals involved or present during the stabbing incident were not unknown to the victim, adding it was a matter of time to identify them in order for officers to clarify circumstances.
