A stepmother previously detained over the tragic deaths of two children found in a car in Xylofagou has spoken out following her release from custody, pleading for public speculation to end.

The 38-year-old Bulgarian national, identified as Tsvetelina, was set free by investigators after no evidence of guilt was established against her. Speaking with the Bulgarian news outlet News24sofia.eu, she defended her family against the wave of public accusations.

"Do not play with our pain," she said. "Do not say it's the fault of the stepmother, the father, the grandmother, or the grandfather. I wish for no one to ever experience something like this."

While she has been released, the children's father remains in police custody. According to Tsvetelina, his ongoing detention is tied to his status as the children's legal guardian, requiring his continued cooperation with local authorities as they work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
