Summer has settled into its favourite routine

Another sunny weekend ahead, with inland temperatures reaching 37°C.

Newsroom

By the end of June, Cyprus has its own daily rhythm. Alarm clocks become less important than the sun, dinner quietly migrates to 8pm, and "I'll do it this afternoon" is universally understood to mean "after the heat eases."

The forecast is keeping pace.

Today will be mostly clear, with intervals of increased cloud. Around midday and into the early afternoon, an isolated shower may develop over the mountains, while the rest of the island is expected to stay dry.

Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest, strengthening later in the day and becoming locally strong in some areas. The sea will remain slight to a little rough.

Temperatures will once again climb to 37°C inland, around 33°C along most coastal areas, 29°C on the west coast and 30°C in the highest mountains.

Tonight will remain mostly clear, although some low cloud is expected at times. Later, patches of mist or fog may develop, mainly in southeastern parts of the island.

The outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday changes very little. Most areas will enjoy plenty of sunshine, while the familiar afternoon cloud over the mountains may squeeze out an isolated shower.

Temperatures are expected to remain slightly above the seasonal average through the weekend. So if your plans involve the beach, a barbecue or simply claiming the shadiest table at a café, the weather is unlikely to argue with you.
