Customs officers at Larnaca Airport found six vials used in cosmetic treatments in a passenger’s luggage. Days later, Cyprus’ Pharmaceutical Services confirmed the products had no approval to be sold in the country.
The passenger arrived from Greece on Oct. 24. During a baggage check, officers found five vials containing a liquid used in cosmetic procedures and a sixth containing a liquid anesthetic, which is used to numb an area during treatment.
Customs held the vials and asked the Pharmaceutical Services to check their status. On Oct. 27, the agency confirmed that the products lacked the authorization required to put them on the Cyprus market. Customs then formally seized them.
Customs did not name the products or say where they were headed. Larnaca Customs is continuing its investigation.
