Swap your old AC and get paid to upgrade

EAC+ program offers grants for households and businesses to cut electricity bills and go green.

Cyprus’ Electricity Authority (EAC) is giving households, businesses, and local authorities a helping hand to cut energy bills and go green. The new “EAC+” sponsorship plan, developed with the Cyprus Energy Office, offers financial support for upgrading old lighting and air conditioners to energy-efficient models.

Here’s how it works:

  • Swap old lights for LEDs: Businesses, organizations, and local authorities can get €30 for each 60×60 cm LED panel and €20 for each 17 cm round LED. The upgrade can slash electricity use by up to 70% and brighten spaces while saving money almost instantly.
  • Upgrade your air conditioner: Vulnerable customers can get €170–€470 to replace old, energy-hungry AC units with modern A++ or A+++ systems. The new units keep homes cooler or warmer more efficiently, cut energy costs, and the old units are recycled as part of the deal.

The program runs for three years, until September 30, 2028, or until the €5.5 million budget runs out. Applications are online only, with photos and technical info required. Most of the funds, €4.5 million, are for lighting, while €1 million is for air conditioning upgrades.

EAC says the plan is part of a bigger push to make Cyprus’ energy system cleaner, greener, and more efficient while helping people save on their bills at the same time.
