Teen dies in road accident near Choletria, Paphos

15-year-old was reported missing Friday night and found dead the next day in suspected motorcycle crash.

A 15-year-old boy was found dead Saturday afternoon following a road accident near the village of Choletria in the Paphos District, authorities confirmed.

The victim, identified as Ivan Giurpetoglou, a Turkish Cypriot resident of Choletria, had been reported missing by family and friends after he failed to return home Friday night. According to police, he was last seen around 8 p.m. riding a motorcycle to Paphos.

Giurpetoglou’s body was discovered shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday by a citizen who spotted it in a roadside ditch near the village cemetery. A motorcycle and a helmet were found nearby, along with another vehicle. Authorities believe the teen died as a result of a road traffic collision, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.

Local police from Kelokedara, members of the Paphos Traffic Department, and the Assistant Police Director of Operations responded to the scene. The teen’s body was transported by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital.

The incident has shocked the local community, and police are continuing their investigation to determine the events that led to the fatal crash.
