This morning, thousands of yoga enthusiasts gathered in Times Square to celebrate the summer solstice by participating in the 22nd annual "Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga," according to Reuters.

The event, a yearly tradition that began in 2003 with just three participants, has grown significantly over the past two decades. Today, it encompasses seven free yoga classes held throughout the day, starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until 8:30 p.m. at the bustling intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue.

Tom Harris, President of the Times Square Alliance, emphasized the event's unique appeal. "Summer in Times Square is a very special season each year and it’s time once again to celebrate its start with our annual Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga event on the longest day of the year. Yogis from all over the world, we challenge you to find peace at the busiest place on the planet, and once you have, enjoy all Times Square has to offer."

The day's classes are led by renowned instructors and cater to all levels of yoga practitioners. Attendees are also treated to a variety of activities and booths in the Yoga Village, which features giveaways and wellness products.

Participants who couldn't attend in person have the option to join via live stream on the Times Square website, YouTube, and Facebook, ensuring that the celebration of peace and mindfulness can be experienced globally.

"Summer Solstice Yoga in Times Square with its inspiring yoga teachers, has become an iconic setting to reaffirm your yoga practice under the Broadway lights and the invigorating sun," said Douglass Stewart, co-founder of the event.

This annual event continues to highlight the transformative power of yoga, providing a serene counterpoint to the usual hustle and bustle of Times Square.
