Two attacks were reported just 30 meters apart, while a third left a woman injured after robbers pulled her bag and knocked her off her bicycle.

Three people riding bicycles through Limassol were robbed in the space of 80 minutes early Tuesday, with one woman knocked to the ground as attackers snatched her bag.

All three reported being approached by people on motorcycles. Two of the robberies happened at around the same time on the same street, just 30 meters apart.

The first victim, a 23-year-old man, told police he was cycling along Promachon Eleftherias Street at about 3:30 a.m. when two people on a large motorcycle approached him.

The passenger got off and demanded his wallet. Frightened, the cyclist handed it over, along with the cash and bank cards inside. The attacker then pushed him before getting back on the motorcycle and leaving with the driver.

At around the same time, a 20-year-old woman cycling along the same road reported being approached by six people on three small motorcycles. They were dressed in black and wearing helmets and black hoods.

Two got off and demanded money. When she told them she had none, they took her bag, which contained cash and personal documents, and fled.

The third robbery happened at about 4:50 a.m. on Nikou Pattihi Street.

A 50-year-old woman told police that three people on two motorcycles approached her with their faces covered by hoods. One pulled her bag, causing her to fall from her bicycle and suffer minor injuries to her face and hands.

The attackers escaped with the bag, which contained money, a mobile phone and other personal belongings.

For the three cyclists, an early-morning journey ended with stolen belongings—and, in one case, injuries. The close timing of the attacks adds to the disturbing picture, although the information released does not establish whether the cases are connected.

Limassol’s Criminal Investigation Department is investigating all three robberies and working to identify those responsible.
