Time is running out for anyone still putting off verifying their prepaid mobile number. Whether it’s your personal phone, a company line, or even the SIM in your alarm system or elevator, every prepaid card in Cyprus must be identified and this time, there will be no more extensions.
So far, only 60% of users have completed the process. The rest now have until December 10 to act. After that, unverified numbers could be deactivated, and finding or recovering them will be extremely difficult.
“This is the final extension,” warned Alexia Yiallouridou, Head of Public Relations at CYTA, speaking on SPOR FM 95.0’s “Diaspora News.” “Once the deadline passes, numbers without identification will effectively disappear from the system.”
The rule applies across the board, affecting individuals, businesses, alarm systems, even elevator lines. The verification requirement stems from a government law designed to enhance security and ensure that all active SIM cards are traceable.
The process couldn’t be simpler:
- Visit CYTA’s website.
- Enter your personal details.
- Upload photos of both sides of your ID.
- Upload a selfie.
- Give consent for your information to be verified.
That’s it. Five quick steps that could save you from losing your number.
So, if you haven’t done it yet, what are you waiting for? No one wants to memorize a new number just because you missed the deadline. This is your final reminder: verify your prepaid card before December 10, or risk being disconnected for good.
