Two Russian nationals were killed Saturday when their rental car went off a cliff near the Baths of Aphrodite tourist attraction.
A 58-year-old man and his 48-year-old wife were driving in the Kakoskali area near the Baths of Aphrodite when their vehicle went off a cliff and plunged some 30 metres deep.
The incident took place at 2:15pm according to an eye witness.
Fire department officials said the bodies of the two tourists were pulled out of the wrecked car while a special mini vehicle suitable for dirt road expeditions in Akamas was also used during the rescue and recovery operation.
The bodies of the married couple were transported by a Coast Guard vessel to Latchi port and then by land to Polis Chrysochous Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced them dead on arrival.
