A local male driver, aged 74, died from an apparent cardiac event while driving on Pelendri village main road

An elderly man died behind the wheel on Tuesday after suffering an apparent cardiac event on the main Pelendri road in Limassol district.
According to media reports, a 74-year-old local man was driving in the afternoon on the main road in Pelendri, when his car went over a traffic island and came to a complete stop after hitting a pole.
Residents in the area rushed to the man’s aid who appeared to be unconscious. He is believed to have suffered a heart attack just prior to the accident, based on the preliminary results of an on-site police investigation.
An autopsy is expected to shed light on the exact cause of death.
