Limassol police arrested a 22-year-old local man on Tuesday in connection with the bomb attack outside the residence of a Kilani community councilor.
According to local reports, police officers who had received a tip in the case went ahead with the arrest of a second suspect, handcuffing the 22-year-old around 9:30pm.
A 42-year-old woman, who sits on Limassol’s Kilani community council, was arrested over the weekend in connection with the bomb explosion outside the residence of her fellow councilor, a 46-year-old woman.
The explosion outside the home was loud and caused by a hand grenade, which scared the residents indoors as well as neighbors. Three windows were shattered and the outer wall was damaged, according to reports.
Police investigators said it appeared that the two females had disagreements, although it was not clarified whether those were personal or professional issues.
Media sources said at least some of those disagreements involved a number of complaints regarding irregularities and wrongdoing that reached the office of the auditor general.
