Men resort to knives and hoes reportedly to settle parking dispute in apartment parking lot

Two people have been arrested following a parking incident in Limassol, with reports saying two others were hospitalized after sustaining injuries inflicted with a knife or a gardening tool.

Police said two men aged 21 and 30 drove Tuesday afternoon to a Limassol apartment complex for a visit, where they parked their vehicle outside the building.

A few minutes later, another driver described as a 32-year-old male resident of the building, pulled up and started honking his horn at another vehicle which was parked in his designated space.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle came out and moved his vehicle, while the tenant started shouting over the incident.

Another individual, described as a 26-year-old male, realized what was taking place, according to the police report which said he also got involved in the attack by assaulting the two men with a knife.

Law enforcement officers were called to the scene while the two injured men were rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital. Doctors said the 30-year-old had fractured his arm and had a swollen hand, while the 21-year-old was hospitalized after sustaining injuries on his blade shoulder and arm.

Officers arrested the two men aged 32 and 26 on suspicion of committing offences involving bodily harm and grievous bodily harm.

Sources told Knews all men involved in the incident were foreign nationals described as Cypriot permanent residents. Additional reports later said the two visitors were described as Romanian nationals who went to console a friend who lost her brother, while the others were described as Syrian males.

Police did not say whether there were investigating other offences, while a press officer told Knews that the official report had been issued only regarding events surrounding the parking dispute.
