Two new cases emerge from tests on arrivals, repatriated persons

Two people who were tested for coronavirus in the framework of checks on arriving passengers and repatriated persons were Monday’s new coronavirus cases.

A sum of 1,039 samples were processed to check for coronavirus, 636 of which were taken from arrivals and people being repatriated.

After two tested positive, health officials said contact tracing efforts were launched.

Total known cases in the Republic since the virus broke out on March 9 reached 988.

Monday marked a big day for the Republic of Cyprus as the island’s last coronavirus patient was discharged from the Famagusta General Hospital.
