Newsroom

A low pressure system is affecting areas over Cyprus but weather officials say brief clouds will give way to clear skies later in the day and throughout the week.

Morning low altitude but waterless clouds appeared over Cyprus on Tuesday with light fog reported in many local areas, with officials saying weather will be mostly clear in many parts except over the mountains where increasing clouds are expected to persist through the afternoon.

Temperature highs are expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius in the interior, around 29 along the coast, and 23 high up in the mountains.

The sea will be relatively calm during the early part of the day and between relatively calm to choppy in the afternoon, when strong winds are also expected in the south.

Evening skies will be mostly clear while light fog is expected overnight and early morning. Temperature lows will drop to 18 degrees inland, around 20 along the coast, while it will be 11 high up in the mountains.

Mostly clear skies are also expected Wednesday through Friday but not without increasing clouds on and off in many areas.

Temperatures will remain unchanged for Wednesday while a small gradual rise is expected on Thursday and Friday, with levels reaching slightly above normal averages for this time of the year.
