A rare white Christmas in Cyprus has not been ruled out, with weather officials saying there are chances of light snow high up in the mountains on Sunday.
A weak low pressure system is affecting the area over the island, with Saturday skies mostly clear at first but with scattered clouds and showers later in the day.
Christmas Day on Sunday will be mostly cloudy with chances of showers after noon, while light snow is also expected high up in the mountains. Temperature highs over the weekend will reach 19 degrees Celsius inland and coast, while it will be 8 high up in the mountains.
Temperature lows over the weekend will drop down to 10 degrees inland, 11 in the south and east, 12 in all other coastal regions, while it will be 3 higher up where frost conditions are expected overnight.
Monday will be cloudy and wet, with clear weather expected on Tuesday and cloud formations on Wednesday.
