Winter's chill stirs once more, brace thyselves!

A cold snap is on the way—expect dropping temperatures, strong winds, and maybe even some snow outside the mountains.

Well, folks, if you thought winter was packing up and heading out, think again. The weather has other plans, and it looks like we’re in for a chilly few days ahead.

Today starts off on a relatively calm note—some sunshine, some clouds, and the occasional shower just to keep things interesting. There’s even a chance of a thunderstorm popping up here and there. Meanwhile, up in Troodos, winter is holding its ground, with snow or sleet expected on the peaks. Temperatures will hover around 19°C in most areas, but the mountains will be feeling a much brisker 8°C.

As the sun sets, things get a little cooler—temperatures dropping to 6°C inland, 10°C along the coast, and a frosty 2°C in the mountains (where frost is likely to make an appearance). A few showers might still linger along the coast, and you might wake up to some mist and low clouds in the morning.

Now, let’s talk about what’s coming. Wednesday? More of the same—some clouds, a few passing showers, and maybe a thunderstorm over in the east. But Thursday and Friday are when things really take a turn. A cold air mass is moving in, and it’s bringing strong northern winds and a noticeable drop in temperature. Not only will it be colder, but snow might start creeping down into the hilly areas, not just the mountains.

By Friday, temperatures will be well below what we’re used to this time of year. So, if you were thinking of switching to a lighter jacket—don’t. Winter isn’t quite ready to bow out just yet.

And for those wondering about Troodos? As of this morning, there’s already a nice little blanket of snow—2 cm at the square and 11 cm at Hionistra. Something tells us that number’s about to go up.

So, stay warm, layer up, and maybe keep a cup of something hot nearby. It’s about to get chilly!
