Woman dies at a beach in Kato Paphos early Wednesday morning

An elderly woman died Wednesday morning at a beach in Kato Paphos after losing consciousness in the water, with beachgoers trying to resuscitate her but to no avail.
The woman, described in local media as a foreign national in her late 60's, was spotted in shallow waters around 7:30am, near a local hotel. Initial reports said she did not appear to be a guest there.
Beachgoers brought the woman back to shore, with some reports saying they attempted to provide first aid but she did not regain consciousness.
She was then transported to the Emergency Room at Paphos General Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.
