Police are trying to locate the driver of a pickup truck in a hit-and-run incident in Nicosia, where a woman was rushed to hospital with a head injury.

According to local media, a pick-up truck driven by an unknown person was on Kantara Avenue in Pallouriotissa (Kaimakli), east Nicosia, on Sunday afternoon around 5:45pm, when it struck a woman as she was outside her parked vehicle.

The victim, described as a 39-year-old local female, was struck by the pickup truck as she was on foot outside her own car, which was parked on the side of the road. It was not immediately clear whether the parked vehicle was in a designated parking spot or speed may have been a factor.

Police said the driver failed to stop and fled the scene of the accident, while an ambulance rushed the woman to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital.

Doctors said she sustained a head injury and was administered a number of tests. She was later said to be out of danger.

Knews understands that police are evaluating some information regarding the incident but did not give more details, citing the ongoing investigation.
