Woman waits two years for building permit to construct home

Long waits and lack of transparency fuel frustration over permit process.

A woman has been waiting two years for a building permit to construct her home, and growing frustrated, she shared her experience on social media.

In her post, she said she had submitted all required documents, paid the necessary fees, and complied with all legal requirements, but her application remains stalled in bureaucracy.

“I am being denied the right to proceed with a project that concerns my own housing,” she wrote. “For the past two years, I have been waiting for the urban planning permit to build my home.”

She described the delay as both a financial and psychological burden, saying she has been deprived of the ability to move forward with her housing project.

She also criticized the lack of accountability and clear communication from the Urban Planning Department, stating that every attempt to get information results in vague promises or dead ends.

“Who will be held accountable for this unjustified delay? How is it possible that, in a state governed by the rule of law, citizens’ cases remain frozen for two years?” she asked.

The woman said she has filed a formal complaint about the delay but has yet to receive a response.

Her post prompted others to share similar experiences. One commenter said she appealed to the Ministry of the Interior and later the Presidential Office but received no resolution. “The rule of law you mentioned clearly doesn’t apply to everyone,” she wrote.

Another said she has been trying to resolve a land issue for five years, quoting officials as saying, “We have cases pending since 2010. You think we’ll look at yours?”

A third commenter alleged that bribery can expedite paperwork, saying, “If you have someone to bribe, your paperwork will be done in a week.”
