The Pafos-Polis motorway is still under construction, and the Polis Chrysochous Local Authority is waiting for an update on when the second phase will begin, according to Mayor Yiotis Papachristofis.
In a statement to CNA, Papachristofi stated that the Pafos-Polis Chrysochous road is progressing normally, based on information received from the Minister, and that new machinery will be installed at the start of the new year, allowing the project's implementation to enter a more vigorous phase.
Papachristofi specifically mentioned that earthworks have been carried out in a large part of the first phase of the project since the summer, particularly in the first section from Agia Marinouida to the borders of Episkopi and Tsada.
He also noted that the project is expected to be completed within two years. He stated that he has written a letter to the Minister of Transport requesting information on the timelines for the start of Phase B and that an environmental study, as well as an update on some issues, are required.
Furthermore, people living in Polis Chrysochous believe that the construction of the Pafos - Polis Chrysochous road is critical because the first phase of the 15-kilometer-long road is expected to connect the Pafos airport as well as other provinces with the isolated area of the Polis department. They also point out that the remainder of the section is required for the motorway to reach Polis Chrysochous. The Phase I project (St. Mary's - Stroubi) will take 42 months to complete, according to the contracts.
