This Friday, September 20, 2024, at 20:00, the iconic Eleftheria Square will be filled with the enchanting sounds of classical music, as the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, led by the esteemed Cypriot conductor Kyriaki Kountouri, presents a free concert for the public.
Organized by the ‘Friends of Nicosia’ Association and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation, the evening will showcase a selection of popular classical and romantic works. The program features masterpieces like Mozart's 'Don Giovanni Overture' and 'Symphony No. 40', Mendelssohn's 'Notturno', and selections from Dvořák’s Czech Suite. The audience will also be treated to Respighi's playful 'La gallina' from Gli Uccelli, Bernstein's lively 'Mambo' from West Side Story, and much more.
Bringing a local touch, the concert will also include orchestral versions of beloved songs by the renowned Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis, arranged by Giorgos Karvellos.
This magical evening under the stars will be broadcast live on RIK 2 television, ensuring that even those at home can enjoy the music. With free entry, it’s a perfect opportunity for families and music lovers to gather and celebrate the beauty of classical music in the heart of Lefkosia.
