Good news for all the sleepyheads out there. This weekend, you get a bonus hour in bed!
This Sunday, October 26th, at 01:00 GMT (04:00 local time), Cyprus officially reverts to Standard Time. That means the clocks go back one hour, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time for 2025. So when your phone and car dashboard disagree on what time it is, don’t panic. Just remember: we’re falling back.
What actually happens?
At 4:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, the clocks roll back to 3:00 a.m., giving everyone an extra 60 minutes of glorious sleep (or one more hour to dance the night away, if that’s your thing). From then on, mornings will feel brighter, but evenings will start getting darker earlier. Goodbye long sunset walks, hello cozy early nights with hot drinks and fuzzy socks.
A quick fun fact
Did you know? Daylight Saving Time was first introduced to make better use of daylight during the longer days of summer. But as we move into the cooler months, it’s time to “return to normal," or as some of us like to call it, the season of perpetual darkness after 5 p.m.
Don’t forget!
When: Sunday, October 26th
What: Turn your clocks back one hour at 4:00 a.m. local time (or just before bed on Saturday night).
Result: One extra hour of sleep and maybe one less excuse for being late to brunch.
So enjoy your extra hour, Cyprus! Whether you use it for sleeping or binge-watching your favourite series, make the most of your mini time bonus.
After all, who doesn’t love a Sunday that lasts just a little bit longer?
