For those who’ve sipped coffee by the crackling fire, shared laughter under the tall trees in summer, or simply felt at home in the warm embrace of Le Marquis, the news feels like a soft but inevitable goodbye. After four decades of serving as a gathering spot in the heart of Platres, the iconic Le Marquis will close its doors for the last time on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

In its time, Le Marquis wasn’t just a café or restaurant; it was a memory-maker, a cherished corner in a village that could feel like it was made for postcards. The dark wood, the cozy lighting, the inviting fireplace—all of it created a space where conversations flowed just as easily as the coffee. And in the summer, it was like stepping into an enchanting garden where the air smelled of trees and fresh possibilities.

For 40 years, Le Marquis has been the backdrop of countless stories—celebrations, quiet moments, and everything in between. It wasn’t just a place to eat or drink; it was part of people’s lives, growing alongside them, even becoming a place where families and generations met, reunited, and shared moments they’d carry with them forever.

But as the announcement humbly reads, “A chapter closes…” The beloved café, which has stood as a comforting constant for so many, will take its final bow. The family behind it, who turned this cozy spot into an institution, took to social media to thank their loyal customers, friends, and family for their unwavering support over the years. Their heartfelt message of gratitude speaks volumes: “Thank you for standing by us with love, support, and respect. We are deeply grateful.”
