In the quiet of Cyprus’ night, a small team shines flashlights into darkness in search of what cannot easily be explained. Paranormal Investigation Team (P.I.T.) Cyprus, the island’s only paranormal investigation group, has spent years exploring abandoned buildings, historic sites, and other reportedly haunted locations, aiming not to chase ghosts for spectacle, but to study the unexplained with rigor and respect.
Founded by Spyroula, Sofia, Rita, and Nick, the team began with curiosity and a shared love of mystery. Their goal is clear: to document phenomena responsibly and bring Cyprus onto the global map of paranormal research. “We’re not simply trying to prove something, but to understand it,” they say.
According to an article by Maria Karamanou in WKND Weekend by Must, their investigations span some of the island’s most infamous locations, including Verengaria and Amiantos Hospital, where equipment has moved on its own and doors opened seemingly by unseen hands. One investigation at Agios Sozomenos even involved threats to their lives, underscoring the risks of exploring abandoned or hazardous sites.

The team emphasizes preparation: selecting sites after historical research and testimonies, evaluating safety, and documenting rigorously. While they have recorded inexplicable sounds, vibrations, and apparitions, they stress that not every phenomenon has a clear explanation, and some may have scientific roots.
Despite skepticism and early fears, public interest has grown. Locals now welcome the team, sharing personal experiences and even joining investigations. P.I.T. Cyprus, however, maintains boundaries: they do not conduct exorcisms or contact the deceased, and they advise only basic energetic “cleansing” for homes.
Looking forward, the group hopes to expand internationally, collaborate with other teams, and elevate Cyprus’ presence in global paranormal research. Their vision is a team that continues to explore the unknown while maintaining professionalism, curiosity, and respect for those affected by the unexplainable.
“In 5 or 10 years, we envision Cyprus as a recognized center for paranormal research, with a team committed to exploring what lies beyond the ordinary,” they conclude.
