Former President of the Republic of Cyprus George Vassiliou has been in hospital since Jan. 6 after being diagnosed with a respiratory infection, health officials said.
According to the State Health Services Organization (OKYpY), Vassiliou is being treated at Nicosia General Hospital, where he is receiving all necessary medical, pharmaceutical, and nursing care.
His condition is described as serious, and doctors are closely monitoring his health.
Vassiliou, who served as president from 1988 to 1993, remains a widely respected figure in Cyprus’ political life, known for his long involvement in public service and European affairs.
No further details were released, with health authorities saying updates will be provided if needed.
