Four new coronavirus cases emerged on Wednesday after 1,984 samples were checked for the virus, raising total known cases in the Republic of Cyprus to 922.

Speaking at the Health Ministry’s daily coronavirus briefing, member of the health advisory committee Leondios Kostrikis said three of the new cases involved family members of a previously announced case found at a Larnaca school, while the fourth involved a person tested in the framework of the round of tests targeting special health groups.

“Tomorrow we enter the second phase of the relaxation of the restriction measures. We consider it a milestone in the effort toward a full return to normality and for this reason we kindly ask you to continue with the same determination so that we do not have to take steps backwards,” Kostrikis said.
