Queer Wave 2023: 4th year for the Cyprus LGBTQ+ Film Festival

Queer Wave 2023 takes place from September 8 to 17

Newsroom

For the fourth year, the LGBTQ+ Cyprus Film Festival "Queer Wave 2023" will occur in Nicosia from September 8 to 17.

All Details:

The festival that aimed to provide a platform for queer cinema in Cyprus is back for its fourth annual event. This year's Queer Wave will once again offer a curated selection of recent Cypriot and global works, along with gems of queer cinema from previous decades.

Queer Wave returns for another 10-day run this year, featuring over 20 screenings, discussions, and additional events with Cypriot artists and DJs. Just like in prior years, the program will encompass festival favorites, impactful pieces from emerging filmmakers, and some slightly more unique choices. This year's festival invites viewers to embrace a range of LGBTQ+ identities, foster a sense of community, and explore the various forms that queer cinema can take, including fiction, documentary, animation, and hybrid genres.

The fourth installment of Queer Wave will be held from September 8 to 17, 2023, in Nicosia. This year, Sessions x SPEL will host the Queer Wave at their venue, renewing the festival's collaboration with Sessions, now located at the State Gallery of Contemporary Art - SPEL. On September 15, outdoor screenings will take place north of the Green Line in the courtyard of Shakespeare House, courtesy of the British High Commission. The festival will conclude with two additional nights of outdoor screenings on September 16 and 17 at the Sessions x SPEL (Cloud) terrace.

A complete program will be announced shortly on the website [queerwave.com].
