There was a rapid increase in cases of coronavirus in the occupied territories, with the "Ministry of Health" announcing on Thursday 1001 new positive cases diagnosed in a 24 hour period, the majority of the cases were acquired locally.
The cases resulted from a total of 20882 diagnostic tests.
434 concern people in Nicosia, 239 in Kyrenia, 242 in Famagusta, 12 in Trikomo, 50 in Morfou and 24 in Lefka.
The total number of confirmed cases in the occupied territories reached 39,371 and COVID-19 deaths are listed at 143.
