Police investigate as teen’s safety and possible drug links raise alarm.

A 15-year-old girl was discovered Thursday morning in a car in Limassol alongside a 39-year-old man and bags of what police say could be illegal drugs, sparking a major investigation.

The vehicle was stopped for inspection by police, who found crystalline substances inside. Both the girl, a Greek Cypriot minor, and the Syrian man were arrested and taken to the station to explain the circumstances of their meeting, their relationship, and the drugs.

Because of her age, the girl’s testimony will be recorded by officers trained in handling cases involving minors, under the Children’s Law, in a setting designed to protect her rights and psychological well-being. The interview will be video-recorded to ensure accuracy and prevent repeated questioning that could cause trauma.

The 39-year-old man is expected to appear in Limassol District Court Thursday as authorities seek a detention order. The case remains under investigation by multiple units, including the Limassol CID, YKAN, Traffic Police, Central Police Station, and the Vulnerable Persons Management Service.
