160 new coronavirus cases detected

Total known cases in the Republic of Cyprus increased to 3,314

160 new coronavirus cases were detected on Friday, when 4,327 tests were conducted, raising total known cases in the Republic of Cyprus to 3,314.

The majority, 89, were detected among samples collected from people who took the initiative to get tested, while 51 involved contacts of other known cases.

Another 10 involved arrivals to Cyprus airports, while three were detected among samples collected at general hospitals.

Three more cases were detected among special health groups and/or people who got referred for testing by their GP, while four involved people who got tested in the framework of the program targeting retirement homes and other such insitutions.

The Famagusta district hospital is currently treating 22 coronavirus patients, while two more are intubated at the Nicosia general hospital ICU. An additional two coronavirus patients are receiving treatment at a coronavirus ward.
