Police are investigating a violent incident in the Kato Polemidia area of Limassol after a 23-year-old man was found with a serious abdominal injury on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities were alerted shortly before 2:30pm when information reached police about an injured man lying in an open area. Officers were dispatched to the scene, where initial findings indicated that the victim had suffered a wound believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object.
Paramedics transported the man to Limassol General Hospital, where doctors assessed his condition and prepared him for surgery. His health condition is reported to be serious.
Investigators are examining reports that a person at a nearby property heard an argument involving the victim and another individual before the injury was discovered. By the time the wounded man was located, the suspected assailant had already left the area.
Members of the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department are gathering witness testimony and reviewing surveillance footage from the vicinity as efforts continue to identify and locate the person believed to be connected to the attack.
