A routine court-approved search at a home in Larnaca quickly escalated into a major drug and weapons investigation after authorities say they uncovered more than 3 kilograms of cocaine, a shotgun, cash and a stockpile of fireworks.
Members of the National Crime Agency carried out the search on Tuesday afternoon at the home of a 36-year-old man, as well as a vehicle linked to him, following a court warrant.
What they found, according to police, pointed far beyond simple drug possession.
Inside the house and the car, officers discovered multiple packages of cocaine in different quantities, including two larger bundles weighing a total of 2.22 kilograms, along with dozens of smaller packaged doses. In total, the seized cocaine amounted to just over 3 kilograms.
Alongside the drugs, officers also found €4,000 in cash, a precision scale commonly used in drug distribution, a shotgun, and a number of fireworks and flares. Two motorcycles without registration plates and a car were also confiscated from the property.
Police said the cocaine had been “carefully hidden” and was only located after what they described as methodical searches and close observation of the suspect’s behavior during the operation.

The 36-year-old was arrested on the spot and taken to police headquarters in Larnaca, where he was questioned and later placed in custody. He is being investigated for flagrant drug- and weapons-related offenses.
Authorities from the National Police Agency and Kofinou police station are continuing investigations into whether the seized drugs were part of a wider distribution network.
For now, police say the focus is on tracing where the cocaine came from and where it was meant to go next.
