What began as another summer evening on one of Cyprus' busiest beaches ended in tragedy.

A 27-year-old Indian man was found dead on Malama Beach in Protaras on Wednesday night, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The man, who had travelled to Cyprus for work, was taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Authorities are investigating what happened, with drowning considered one of the possible causes of death. The exact cause will be determined as investigations continue.
