A routine drive through Nicosia turned into a terrifying ordeal after a man reported that his car was shot at by unknown assailants.
Police have launched an attempted murder investigation following the incident, which is believed to have taken place while the man was driving in the capital.
According to police, the driver reported that unknown individuals opened fire on his vehicle before fleeing.
Officers from the Nicosia Metropolitan Police Department, together with investigators from Police Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Service, examined both the scene and the vehicle.
During their inspection, investigators found several holes in the car that appear to have been caused by gunfire.
Evidence collected from the scene has been secured and will be sent for forensic analysis as detectives work to establish exactly what happened and identify those responsible.
Police have not released further details about the victim or whether anyone was injured in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
