About five thousand passengers daily undergo PCR testing at both Larnaca and Paphos airport combined, according to Maria Kouroupi, Senior Director of Aviation Development, Marketing & Communication of Hermes Airports.

According to the new measures which came into effect yesterday, all visitors who arrive at Larnaca and Paphos airports must be subjected to PCR tests.  The Cyprus government hopes that the move will help curb the spread of the new omicron variant that is contributing to the increasing number of Covid cases in Europe.

"The existing procedure at both airports has been set up to enable us to serve a larger number of passengers", Maria Kouroupi stated, "currently about 5 thousand people a day undertake PCR tests at both airports in Cyprus", she added.

Ms. Kouroupi noted that as soon as passengers disembark from the aircraft, they go to one of seven PCR test points within the airport in Larnaca (in Paphos they can go to 1 of the 3 points).  Following the test, the validity of the Cyprus Flight Pass is checked.

Passengers flying into Cyprus are advised to double-check the Cyprus Flight Pass website regarding entry requirements into Cyprus, which could differ based on the country of origin.  A PCR test may still be needed prior to departure.

Upon leaving the airport, passengers are advised to remain in isolation until a negative result of the test is sent to your email or mobile phone.  This process now only take a few hours.
