A 57-year-old woman was killed and two others injured in a road collision Wednesday morning in the Nicosia district, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Dimitra Symeonidou Glykeriou, of Kapedes.
Police said the crash occurred around 7:10 a.m. on the Kampia–Kapedes road, when, under circumstances still under investigation, Glykeriou’s vehicle collided with a car driven by a 35-year-old woman. An 8-year-old girl, the daughter of the 35-year-old driver, was also in the vehicle.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated all three individuals. They were transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital.
Glykeriou died from her injuries a few hours later, police said.
The 35-year-old woman remains hospitalized at Nicosia General Hospital. The child is receiving treatment at Makarios Hospital.
Nicosia Traffic Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
