A 79-year-old woman died Thursday after a fire broke out in her home in Pervolia, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. Neighbors, noticing the smoke, forced entry into the house and found Filothei Mourtziyi lying unconscious face down in the living room.
Emergency responders confirmed her death at the scene.
The Fire Service said the blaze, which began in a bedroom, was extinguished before spreading to the rest of the house.
The Kiti Police Station is investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
